The Feast of Janus
The New Year. My all time favorite holiday. The one early morning of the day where hope is alive. It’s nothing short of magic! Anything is possible. All of your hopes and dreams are within reach with just a drop of a glittery ball. You hear the clock strike twelve and the universe has opened itself up to new beginnings.
Speaking of beginnings, did you know the month of January is named after the God, Janus. Who is well known as being the “God of Beginnings”. As the head honcho of all things to begin, he is connected with passages, harvesting, transitions (changes), well wishes and time. Even Jupiter (Zeus) himself maneuvers with the help of Janus. You can find him with a two headed image keeping an eye on the past while looking towards the future. It is such a powerful idolatry for what this month has in store for us. With his assistance the world is your oyster, believe in the power of faith and hard work. The question you should ask yourself everyday going forward is what can i add to my to do list. What is there left for me to do, to be a better human, for myself and for this new year ahead of me. It will not be easy nothing we are meant to do is. Patience and Perseverance are the two most important words you can take with you in 2018, they will help in releasing old habits and allow for new opportunities.
Tonight before the year is over, make a wish. A wish for yourself and a wish for others. Then tomorrow when the sunshine reminds you of 2018 try and make your wish a possibility. If it is wealth, set out on a new career path. If it’s love, sign up for an online dating site or say hello to your oldest crush. If it is a failed (failing) important relationship, apologize even if you were wronged. No matter the project you have set before yourself remember all it takes is the power to take action.
