A Very Long Island..

Living on the East Coast has its perks. In the amount of time it takes you to go from Santa Barbara to LA, you could be in another state around here. For about a year, I have made countless imaginary trips to Long Island. I would scroll through these mouth drooling photos, hit save and they are never to be seen again.

Yesterday was the day. Put all chores aside. Feed the animals. Slap on that sexy lipstick. Grab my friend and ride. We drove an hour and 40 minutes to Northport, New York. A cute swanky yet dive bar kind of a town. Any hidden gem with a marina in tow, is my kind of drive by. Our first stop was Robke’s Country Inn. The location was extremely inviting, that the next time I visit I will most certainly ask the waiter for their best dish. We may have shown up a bit tipsy that I didn’t get his name, but he did chat us up with lovely conversation while we were there. I liked that. Any way what we ordered wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t at its best, so I will give you another visit, because you deserved it. On the way to Prime, suggested to us by many locals for the view and “sugar daddy” free drinks, we bumped into The Shack. Such a cool side of the road pit stop. Rowan spent the entire time chatting us up, giving us the Long Island “deets”. Which pretty much led us to our next stop. Sand City Brewing Co. where they let you drink beers with dogs, I mean enough said! You can tell a lot about a town, when the locals are breadcrumbs to your giant pile of delicious candy!

If I wasn’t on a mission we would have ended the night watching the sunset probably on someone’s boat, had we been given the chance. I didn’t know when I would be on that side of the border again so onto the Dominican restaurant that has everyone mentally sipping on mamajuanas while basking in the Caribbean sun. Punta Cana Dominican Grill is a vibrant take on the corner bodega serving grandma’s favourite. I do love me some rice and beans. Although those chicharrónes ended up being the perfect sober bite to get us to Long Beach. The place that ended our night. We undressed ourselves as a local band played the tune to our moonlight dancing. It wasn’t until a lady interrupted our splashing that  with a warning, that we noticed not one other person was in the water. Wet, bummed and starved again we made it to the JETTY Bar where we were served their famous fish tacos and gluten free arepas. Go for the arepas and five dollar Margarita Wednesdays, skip the taco! [I’d like to think of myself as a Fish Taco aficionado] Finally full from a day of grub hopping more like bar hopping, we took the two hour drive home where we sang “Car-aoke” which is our favorite thing to do. We pumped up that Selena & Toni Braxton, sang those high notes knowing not one other person could actually hear how terrible we probably sounded. Mission Accomplished!

Until Next time Long Island!

Love More, Peace More and Roar More.

Your Wild Spirit Guide,

Allie
